All you who sleep tonight - Vikram Seth

All you who sleep tonight
Far from the ones you love,
No hand to left or right
And emptiness above -

Know that you aren't alone
The whole world shares your tears,
Some for two nights or one,
And some for all their years.

~ Vikram Seth, All you who sleep tonight

Thanks Subbuki. I toyed with தனிமையைத் துணயாகக் கொண்டு, but settled for தனிமையைப் போர்த்திக் கொண்டு

I like the original of this way too much to like any translation beyond a degree...But loved the 'thanimayai poartthikkondu' part..

I was wondering what it would be like to translate 'The Golden gate'...The sensibilities would probably make it incompatible for a tamil translation...

frissko - leave along the sensibilities, it is almost impossible to stick to the form and take forward the story. Does any one write novels in poetry in tamil any more?
