Vodkathon

Couple of days back I was chatting with Prabhu, a fellow connoisseur of Vodka and suddenly an idea popped into my mind - Vodkathon. Idea is pretty simple, a bunch of bloggers get together, and test the concept of whether Vodka enhances the blogging quality.

1. After each round, the blogger has to write a post. This has to be published along with a photo of the blogger as he is then.

2. YDYP and YPYC - You Drink You Pay and You Puke You Clean.

3. And if you puke, you will be photographed and the photo will be sent to Nilu's pukefest.

But we hit a block in getting a house with PC and internet connection in Chennai where the inhabitants would not mind a bunch of boozy bloggers. Then Prabhu came with the idea of shifting it to Bangalore where he has promised to meet all the requirements. The date is set - 1 April, around 8.00 PM. Contact Prabhu for further details. And if you think this is a prank, check our blogs on that day.

wow! sounds cool. and if i happen to be in chennai i would even wish to join as well quitting my teetotaller stance. I mean, the word vodkathon did it for me.

Anon, romave avasiyam.

Prabhu, not so soon.

Zero, the vodkathon is in Bangalore, so if you are there, do join us. And thanks for appreciating the wordplay

Er, Anon, now that I know who you are, please don't forget to get that Absolut Citron.

It is your idea, right?

No concept of credit are there as we say in Sarayu!

WA, this is not a drunkards event. We are conducting this solely for furthering the concept of blogging and to get empirical evidence of the impact of vodka on the quality of blogging (which anyway is not that great) :-)

Shub, same to you too.

Tilo, the idea was mine, I floated it to Prabhu and Prabhu sent the mails. So Kribs might have thought it was Prabhu's idea, let's give him the benefit of doubt. But April 1st was Prabhu's choice :-)

Anon, I too would prefer Chennai, but give me a place in Chennai.

DNA - adhukkaaga thaane naanga bangalorela vachirukkom :-)

is it going to be vodka shots or with mixing??

Chenthil said...

To each his own Sathish, I personally prefer cocktails to shots.

A Few Drunk Men. What about taking bets? I'll bet Infinity to One that Vodka pulls down blog quality, not the other way around.

And Anon 1, touche.

Chenthil said...

Krithika, the best works of Kannadasan were written when he was drunk (and don't comeback with that line, Kavi Kannadaasan pol thanniyadithaal kavithai varuma kaluthaikku), so you never know. Wait and see.

"Krithika, the best works of Kannadasan were written when he was drunk"

Adhu mattuma, Barathy, Freud, Einstein they all had their own muses. So jamai raja!

Potti vidiya vidiya va, illa "last man standing"a?

tris said...

A few drunk men? What is this krithika - I did not know it was an all boys event.

Do you really believe the quality of writing will go down. More typos maybe, but....

Just what we need a bunch of drunks blogging about what ever happens to cross their mind.

One suggestion though you could record the drunken banter/monolouge and pod cast it live, right down to the sound of someone puking in the background.

Maybe I should hold on to that belvedere just a wee bit longer.

Perhaps you should go in for Wolfschmidt or Romanov.

The impact of Vodka research was conducted by an independent Vodkathusist and he deduced the following:
* Bloggers post quality improvement will be determined by the topic of the post

* Shaken, not stirred matters a lot.

* Watching a Vijayganth (or even better Ramanarain) movie will have a direct impact on the quality outputs.

More detailed report is available for a fee.

Chenthil said...

D.N.A - it will be last man standing.

Tilo, we have not specifically mentioned it as an all boys event, but knowing the ground realities in India, it most probably will be an all boys event.

Anon, machan we will save the Belvedere for another day. For this event I am getting an Absolut. We are planning for participation from all round the world, with comments and feedback.

Bala, after three rounds I don't think it matters whether it is Maniratnam or Ramanarayanan movie.

Tilo,
Taking all the Chennai moral policing into account, do you expect the female bloggers to be joining in?

Anonymous said...

What if Dinamalar guys pop into the party. Then entire TN will laugh at us like 'Eppadi irundha nee ippadi aagite' vivek comedy.
Thats why we shifted the venue to Bangalore.

If the ocean were vodka and I were a duck
Id swim to the bottom and never come up
But since it aint vodka and I aint a duck
Just pass me the bottle and shut the @#$% up

Guys have fun! Have one for me too! Pity it was not held in Chennai

PLEASE DON'T DRIVE AFTER YOU DRINK :)

Kingsley Joseph said...

?? ???? vodkathon ??????, ???? ???? ????????? ??????????.

Chenthil said...

Smiley, that was a good limerick. Will put it up during the vodkathon. I never drink and drive - because I don't know to drive.

Kingsley - even after living under the palm trees of Kilakarai, I have never tasted Kallu. Now that I am living in a slightly "civilised" society, chances of drinking Kallu is remote I guess :-).

Anonymous said...

Chen,

that brings up a point..

the only college (in the entire world ???) where alcohol ("kallu") is produced (procured???) inside the campus is our great Sathak !!.

Anonymous said...

Chen

In a civilized society, you can still drink kallu. You just have to give it a "peter" sounding name

Chenthil said...

Anon, of course. Kallu was unique to Sathak - I remember people drinking 5-6 mugs/kalayam of it.

Arv - by no means do I say Kallu is uncivilised. Just that in 'civilised' societies it is not easily available - can't go dressed in office wear and sit in a Kallu kadai

Anonymous said...

chen,

what is the code word?
how did u find kingsley is referring to kallu ?

Chenthil said...

Anon, there is no codeword. Kingsley had written in Tamil font, which is not displayed properly in my blog. So I read it in his blog where he displays the recent comments he made.

And for the newbie bloggers who don't know much about Kingsley, this post of his should explain a lot :-)
