Southern Aromas- Restaurant in Residency Towers Chennai

Southern Aromas is the South Indian restaurant at the Residenty Towers Hotel in Pondy Bazzar, Chennai. Had been there for dinner on Saturday.

It is spacious and well lit. It is authentic south indian cuisine, with all four states Tamilnadu, Andhra, Karnataka and Kerala represented fully. So for starters you have Makkasolam Vadai (Vada made with corn), podi idli (Mini sized idlis sprinkled with podi) and Pattani Sundal. The main course too has a variety of rice, idli, dosa and idiyaappam. The non vegetarian dishes are cooked in the south indian way with lot of spices, the Andhra Chappa Pulusu (fish curry with hot gravy) was good. (I am a vegetarian, this was my guest's feedback :). Dessert was payasam, the best way to finish dinner.

Only drawback is the price, Sundal costs Rs. 75.00 per plate (The restaurant is in a 4 star hotel afterall). So go here if somebody is treating you, or you have to take a client out to dinner and the company foots the bill
