Namakkal is a town that throbs with activity. The moment you set foot there, you will notice only one thing. Trucks and associated activities. Almost everyone in this town seems to be involved in transportation business, from owning trucks to servicing them to selling spares.
The Truck dealers seem to be selling trucks as fast as two wheelers would in a city like Chennai. One visit here and you would really believe that Indian Industry (other than Software) is booming. Namakkal has associated problems that come with such industries. But that shouldn't detract its furious pace of growth. I have heard people say that Tiruppur, Sivakasi and Namakkal are examples of entrepreneurial potential in TN. I haven't been to the other two, but a visit to Namakkal substantiates that statement.
Some photos taken when I went to Namakkal last year.
By the way, I added one more truck to my fleet (of one) last Thursday.
