Aary Potteru Aruvathu Roobaikku (Harry Potter for Sixty Bucks)

Overheard at the pavement bookshops outside the bookfair

Girl: Intha Harry Potter Evalo? (How much does this Harry Potter cost?)

Shopkeeper:Noothi Eluvathu Rooba (One Hundred and Seventy Rupees)

Girl: Pakkathu Kadaila Aruvathu Roobaikku tharanga? (But they are selling at Sixty Rupees at the next shop)

Shopkeeper: Ithu Aary Potterla Araavathu booku. Ithai poi Yaarum aruvathu roobaikku tharuvangala. Anga moonavathu booku vikkaran (This is the sixth volume of Harry Potter. Nobody is selling this for Sixty Rupees, what that fellow is selling is the third volume)

There are people who are ready to shell out several hundreds to read the book on the day of the release. The reason is excessive admiration (read jingoistic fan following) and to avoid spoilers (truly evil). So money doesn't matter.

Yeah, that was about me.

Wow, I feel proud to be remembered as "die-hard" "Aary Potteru" fanatic.
