German Warship "Emden" bombed Madras during the First World War, but not much damage was done. There is a plaque at the place where the bombs fell. Where is the plaque located?
Chakra is right. It is at the High Court, more specifically, it is on the wall of the high court campus, and the plaque can be seen if one comes from NSC Bose road and goes towards Anderson Street.
Tilo, as far as I know Chennai wasn't attacked during WWII, will check up though.
Ravages, good find. It does read so. This is near the Judges entrance, and there is always a cop standing there and shooing away people. So I stopped my bike next to the plaque, kept the camera on the bike's petrol tank and clicked. You can see the bikes handle bar on top of the photograph. That explains the 'cool' angle :-)

At St. Ebbas school on Dr. Radhakrishnan Salai
I will have to check that out Ammani, but the plaque I saw is at a different place. So, wrong answer :-).
Madras High Court!
my grandpa or someone had told me that there used to be a song those days, that goes on like
"Emden vitta gundu..
adhil erindha tank rendu.."
i remember only this much.
It was a U boat. My guess - Marina?

Chakra got it right. Ravages got the exact spot, but that is expected of a Chennai History Enthusiast.
Krithika, it was a Cruiser, not a U boat.
Alright any such damage around WWII?
You know CHenthil, that photograph is super cool. It now read "Hell struck this spot..."
